November 9, 2019: We've added the grades for CNS lecture test #2 in the class register. If you consider the grade is wrong, follow the instructions in the respective thread on the curs.pub.ro Discussions forum.

November 6, 2019: CNS lecture test #3 will take place on Monday, November 11, 2019, at 6:05pm, at the beginning of lecture 7, in room PR002. Please be there on time.

The first lecture test will cover topics from lecture 05: Exploiting. Shellcodes (part 2) and lecture 06: Defense Protection Mechanisms.

October 26, 2019: CNS lecture test #2 will take place on Monday, October 28, 2019, at 6:05pm, at the beginning of lecture 5, in room PR002. Please be there on time.

The first lecture test will cover topics from lecture 03: The Stack. Buffer Management and lecture 04: Exploiting. Shellcodes.

October 23, 2019: Assignment 1 is live. It follows a CTF format. The CTF platform is here. Please follow the instructions and create an account on the platform.

October 19, 2019: We've added the grades for CNS lecture test #1 in the class register. If you consider the grade is wrong, follow the instructions in the respective thread on the curs.pub.ro Discussions forum.

October 14, 2019: It seems that, up until now, the link to the CNS VMs hosted an older version of the Kali VM. We've updated it now and added some extra info. Please download the new version. Don't forget to check its hash.

October 9, 2019: CNS lecture test #1 will take place today, Monday, October 14, 2019, at 6:05pm, at the beginning of lecture 3, in room PR002. Please be there on time.

The first lecture test will cover topics from lecture 01: Introduction. Basic Exploration Tools and lecture 02: Program Analysis.

October 9, 2019: If you choose to, you can keep the lab grade (all labs) or the assignments grade (all assignments) from previous academic years or both. You cannot keep grades for lecture tests or for the exam. In case you want to keep grades, reply on the respective thread on acs.curs.pub.ro.

September 30, 2019: We would like to remind you that the first Computer Network Security lecture will take place today, September 30, at 18:00 in room PRECIS 002. The first Computer Network Security labs will immediately follow from 20:00 in rooms PRECIS 706, EG106 and EG306. The last instance of the first lab will take place next Monday, October 7 from 16:00 in room PRECIS 706.

September 29, 2019: The lab groups will be created after replying to the lab allocation threads on the General Discussions forum starting with Monday, September 30, 2019, 10:15 AM. There will be a thread for each lab slot where you will fill your name and master program until a limit of 16 students per lab slot. You can only fill your own name.

We will then fill the lab split here.

September 23, 2019: Welcome to the wonderful and challenging world of security. Put on your hackers hats, get your assembly skills on, start thinking in binary and let's get cracking! :-) The Computer and Network Security class focuses on offensive security: i.e. reverse engineering, binary analysis, exploiting and runtime application security. We will not tackle crypto or web security as these are going to be better handled at other classes. Enjoy the ride!

The last instance of the first lab will take place on Monday, October 7, 2019, 4pm-6pm in room PRECIS 706.
