February 23, 2018: We've processed here your feedback for CNS 2017-2018.

The team, the labs, the practical side, demos, lecture videos, the assignments/CTFs have been praised. On the negative side, the room was too small for the lectures, some tasks are mundane and we need to provide a bit more support (such as providing resources for assembly language and filling the TODOs in the slides :-D).

Thanks for your feedback and suggestions, we will take them into account for CNS 2018-2019.

January 28, 2018: The CNS exams will take place:

  • Monday, January 29, 2018, 9am, room PR706 (SCPD)
  • Monday, February 5, 2018, 11am, room PR706 (SRIC)

Students from other master programs can join any exam. Students from SRIC can also join the SCPD exam and vice versa.

The exam will consist of two parts: a quiz and a CTF-like test. Please check the rules and grading page. We don't have enough PCs for the quiz so some of you will be required to bring a laptop. Please do that.

January 15, 2018: We value your opinions and input on improving the Computer and Network Security class (CNS) and its components. Please take the time and fill the feedback form on cs.curs.pub.ro. You have to be logged in and enrolled to the course.

The feedback form is anonymous and active from January 8, 2018 to January 19, 2018. We will only be able to see the results at the end of the exam session. You will find the feedback form on the right side of the main page on cs.curs.pub.ro in a frame/box dubbed “FEEDBACK”.

We kindly ask you to evaluate the activity of the CNS team and mention the strong and weak points and your suggestions for improvement. Your feedback will help us improve both the CNS class and other classes you will go through in the future.

We are particularly interested in:

  • What didn't you like and what you consider didn't go well?
  • Why didn't you like that and why you consider it didn't go well?
  • What should we do to make things likable and going well?

January 14, 2018: Monday, January 15, 2018, we will go through the final CNS activities during the semester:

September 26, 2017: Welcome to the wonderful and challenging world of security. Put on your hackers hats, get your assembly skills on, start thinking in binary and let's get cracking! :-) The Computer and Network Security class focuses on offensive security: i.e. reverse engineering, binary analysis, exploiting and runtime application security. We will not tackle crypto or web security as these are going to be better handled at other classes. Enjoy the ride!
